Colorado Horse Rescue (CHR)

In addition to rescuing horses, CHR also provides: Equine Crisis Assistance Program. Small short-term grants are available for horse feed and care to horse owners experiencing temporary hardship financial, illness, injury, or natural disaster. Surrender Program. Accepts surrendered horses from responsible horse owners who have suffered a catastrophic life event and find that they are unable to care for their horse(s).

Colorado Horse Rescue Network

Maintains a statewide network of foster homes and transporters for neglected, abused or slaughter bound. In addition CHRN offers a time limited “Buy Out” a program for horse owners who need to surrender an unwanted or at risk horses for foster placement, rehabilitation, training and adoption.

Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance (CUHA)

Provides emergency funding for horse training, gelding, humane euthanasia, special equipment, hay, medical assistance, or boarding. Also sponsors Equidopt a data base of horse rescues and other organizations that promote responsible horse ownership.

Humane Society of Colorado

Offers advocacy, and education on horse welfare and care. Website contains guidelines on horse care, resources for making a humane end of life decision for your horse, and information on equine rescue and emergency response. Jefferson County Horse Council (JCHC)

JCHC is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to advocacy for and promotion and protection of horses. JCHC works to keep members informed about relevant equine issues in Jefferson County.
